What Does Bear Creek Community Church Believe About Jesus?

church in Lavon TX | non-denominational church near me

These are our answers to the questions we hear most often about Jesus Christ. The short version: we believe Jesus is fully God, fully man, the only Savior, and that he is alive today. Everything else we believe flows from that.

Does Bear Creek Community Church believe Jesus is God?

Yes. Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus Christ is fully God. He is not a created being, a good teacher, or a step below God. He is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity, existing eternally before his birth in Bethlehem. Everything that exists was created by him and for him.

His identity as God is not something we hold loosely. It is the foundation of everything we believe about salvation, resurrection, and eternal life.

Was Jesus a real historical person?

Yes. The historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth is one of the best-attested facts of the ancient world. Secular historians including Josephus and Tacitus wrote about him within decades of his death. No credible historian disputes that Jesus lived, taught, and was crucified in first-century Judea under Pontius Pilate.

The question has never been whether Jesus existed. The question is who he truly was.

What does Bear Creek believe about the virgin birth?

Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. This is not a minor detail. The virgin birth is how God the Son entered human history as a man while remaining fully God. It is how Jesus could be both completely human and completely divine.

We take the biblical accounts of his birth in Matthew and Luke at face value, as historical fact.

Did Jesus ever sin?

No. Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus lived a completely sinless life. He experienced every temptation and hardship that human beings face, yet he never sinned. This matters enormously because his sinlessness is what made him a suitable sacrifice for our sin.

A savior with his own sin to account for could not pay the penalty for ours. Jesus had no such debt. His perfect life is what makes his death on our behalf meaningful.

Why did Jesus have to die?

Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus died as a substitute for sinful humanity. Every person has sinned, and sin carries a penalty. God is just, which means that penalty cannot simply be overlooked. But God is also loving, which means he made a way for the penalty to be paid on our behalf.

Jesus, fully God and fully man, took that penalty on himself when he died on the cross. His death was not a tragedy or an accident. It was the plan of God from the beginning, the greatest act of love in all of human history.

Does Bear Creek believe Jesus rose from the dead?

Yes, without reservation. Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus rose bodily from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. This is not a metaphor or a spiritual idea. His physical body came back to life, and he appeared to his disciples, to more than five hundred people at once according to the Apostle Paul, and to others over a period of forty days before ascending to heaven.

The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. If Jesus did not rise, our faith is empty. We believe he did rise, and that changes everything.

Where is Jesus now?

Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus ascended to heaven after his resurrection and is currently seated at the right hand of God the Father. He is not absent or inactive. He is presently interceding for believers, serving as our high priest before the Father.

He remains fully God and fully man in his resurrected, glorified body. He is alive, he is reigning, and he is coming back.

Is Jesus the only way to be saved?

Yes. Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus is the only Savior and Lord. This is not a popular claim in a culture that values all paths as equally valid, but it is what Jesus himself taught and what the entire Bible affirms. Salvation is found in no one else. It is received as a free gift through personal faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross.

We do not believe this out of arrogance. We believe it because we think it is true, and because we believe every person deserves to hear it.

What does Bear Creek believe about the second coming of Jesus?

Bear Creek Community Church believes Jesus will return to earth personally, physically, and visibly. His return is not symbolic. The same Jesus who ascended into heaven will come back. When he returns, he will bring final judgment, establish his reign, and ultimately usher in his eternal kingdom.

Every person who has ever lived will give an account before him. Believers will spend eternity in his presence. This future reality shapes how we live today.

How do I put my faith in Jesus?

Placing your faith in Jesus begins with believing that he is who he claimed to be: the Son of God who died for your sin and rose from the dead. It means turning away from running your own life and trusting him as your Savior and Lord instead.

This is not a transaction or a formula. It is a genuine turning of your trust toward Jesus. If you want to talk through what this means or have questions, we would love to sit down with you. You can grab coffee with one of our pastors or reach us by text at (833) 528-0579. LEARN MORE ABOUT JESUS
