Director of Worship & Weekend Worship Experience
Part-Time | 10-12 hrs/week | $250/week (1099) | Lavon, TX
Bear Creek Community Church launches publicly on September 13, 2026, and we are looking for a worship director who wants to be part of something from the very beginning to help shape the culture, sound, and spiritual atmosphere of a brand-new church.
This is a part-time role, but the impact is full-time. Every Sunday, you will stand before a congregation that is still forming, still finding its footing, and still discovering what it means to worship together. What you build now will echo for years.
Our Vision for Worship
At Bear Creek, worship is not a production. It is an invitation. Our sound is acoustic and intimate, rooted in a Jesus-centered, singer-songwriter aesthetic. Think less arena anthem, more honest conversation with God. We want worship that feels like it belongs to the people in the room, not just the stage.
If that resonates with the way you already lead, you may be exactly who we are looking for.
We expect pre-Christians in the room with us every Sunday, so we select songs and guide the crowd in a way that helps people who already follow Jesus have an authentic encounter with Him, and at the same time create a safe space for explorers to learn more about Jesus and the relationship He wants to have with them.
The Role
As Director of Worship and Weekend Worship Experience, you are a key member of the Bear Creek Executive Team. You will work directly with Lead Pastor David Watson to plan, rehearse, and lead every weekend service. You will personally lead worship from the stage each Sunday, oversee the Worship Team, and partner closely with the Production Director to ensure that every musical, technical, and creative element works together seamlessly.
This is not a behind-the-scenes support role. You are a leader, a shepherd, and a worshiper. You set the tone.
Skills and Experience
Musical Requirements
Strong vocalist with the ability to lead a room confidently and authentically
Proficient on acoustic guitar or keyboard, with the ability to lead worship from either instrument
Comfortable with an acoustic, singer-songwriter worship style rooted in Jesus-centered content
Experience leading a full band or small ensemble in a live worship context
Working knowledge of ProPresenter or similar worship presentation software
Faith, Leadership and Character
You are a growing disciple of Jesus with a clear testimony of salvation
Theologically aligned with the Charis Fellowship, or willing to serve harmoniously within our doctrine and beliefs
Coachable and genuinely open to feedback, direction, and growth from leadership
A servant-hearted team builder who invests in volunteers as people, not just performers
Spiritually mature, with an active and authentic personal walk with Jesus
Able to receive and apply constructive input from the Lead Pastor and Executive Team without defensiveness
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and shepherd a volunteer worship team
Practical Skills
Organized and self-directed, able to plan ahead and manage a weekly service preparation rhythm
Strong communicator with volunteers, staff, and leadership
Experience managing a ministry budget is a plus, but not required
What You Will Do
Setup and Strike
Arrive early each Sunday to participate in the setup of audio-visual equipment alongside the Production Director and logistics team
Remain after each service to help strike and pack down all equipment, leaving the facility ready for the school week ahead
Approach the portable church model with a servant's attitude, understanding that setup and strike is part of the ministry, not separate from it
Lead from the Stage
Personally lead worship every Sunday, modeling genuine faith and inviting the room into the presence of God
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor weekly to select songs that align with the sermon theme or attribute of God being emphasized
Prepare ProPresenter files and multimedia elements for each service
Lead team huddles and rehearsals, preparing your team spiritually and musically
Build and Develop the Team
Recruit, audition, schedule, and shepherd worship team volunteers
Identify and invest in emerging worship leaders within the team
Maintain regular, relational communication with volunteers so each person feels needed and known
Build a leadership pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing development
Collaborate and Plan
Partner closely with the Production Director to integrate audio, visual, and musical elements
Oversee worship and production elements for special services including Easter and Christmas
Manage the Weekend Worship ministry budget
Evaluate and improve worship systems and processes on an ongoing basis
Who You Are
Deeply passionate about Bear Creek's vision and committed to leading others into authentic worship, not performance
Musically skilled and spiritually mature, with the ability to lead a team with both excellence and genuine faith
A gifted shepherd who provides pastoral care to volunteers alongside practical leadership
Highly collaborative and eager to work in close partnership with the Lead Pastor and Executive Team
Organized and forward thinking, able to manage teams, creative projects, and ministry budgets
Theologically grounded, ensuring artistic excellence and spiritual authenticity are always working together
The Details
This is a part-time, 1099 contractor position at $250 per week, with an expected commitment of 10 to 12 hours per week. You will lead worship every Sunday as Bear Creek grows toward and beyond our public launch on September 13, 2026.
Sundays are non-negotiable. Relational investment in your team is non-negotiable. Everything else, we can talk through.
The Win
A weekend experience where every person who walks through the doors of Bear Creek Community Church encounters God and is drawn into life with Jesus. That is what we are building. We want you to help us build it.
