Director of The Den | Children’s Ministry
Part-Time | 10-12 hrs/week | $250/week (1099) | Lavon, TX
Bear Creek Community Church launches publicly on September 13, 2026, and we are looking for a Children’s Ministry Director who wants to be part of something from the very beginning to help shape the culture and spiritual atmosphere of a brand-new church.
This is a part-time role, but the impact is full-time. Every Sunday, you will lead a team of volunteers, serving families and children, helping them find life with Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him.
Overview
The Den is the children’s ministry of Bear Creek Community Church, providing relevant, age-appropriate learning, discipleship, and connection opportunities for kids from birth through 5th grade. The Director of the Den serves as a member of the Bear Creek Executive Team, working alongside the Lead Pastor and the broader team to accomplish the mission of Bear Creek through children’s ministry.
This director-level leader is responsible for the vision, health, and execution of The Den, including its Team Leaders, volunteers, and overall ministry culture. The ideal candidate is passionate about kids, committed to partnering with families, and skilled at building and leading a volunteer-driven team.

You Will
Leadership and Team Development
Work directly with the Bear Creek Executive Team by attending regular meetings, providing clear communication, and accomplishing the mission of Bear Creek Community Church.
Lead and develop Team Leaders and volunteers so that they are operating in their strengths and serving most effectively within The Den.
Recruit, train, and shepherd Den volunteers, providing spiritual leadership and pastoral care alongside practical development.
Build and maintain a volunteer leadership pipeline through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training suited to each volunteer’s level of gifting and experience.
Identify future Team Leaders and Apprentices, investing in their development and creating opportunities for growth within the ministry.
Lead Team Huddles on Sundays prior to services, preparing your team spiritually and practically for the morning ahead.
Ministry and Family Engagement
Create and oversee ministry environments for kids from birth through 5th grade that are welcoming, safe, age-appropriate, and consistently point children toward life with Jesus.
Minister to families and aid in connecting Sunday’s lesson to the home, equipping parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives.
Develop resources and communication tools that support and strengthen the parent-child discipleship relationship beyond Sunday mornings.
Foster a ministry culture where every child and family feels known, valued, and genuinely welcomed.
Work alongside the Lead Pastor to select and implement a theologically solid children’s ministry curriculum that aligns with Bear Creek’s values and supports age-appropriate discipleship from birth through 5th grade.
Ensure that all materials, supplies, and equipment are prepared and available each Sunday for the delivery of the curriculum, so that every volunteer can serve with confidence and every child experiences a consistent, high-quality environment.
Administration and Safety
Coordinate background checks for all Den volunteers and staff, ensuring compliance with Bear Creek’s child safety standards.
Conduct and maintain ongoing Plan to Protect training for all volunteers serving in The Den.
Manage the Children’s Ministry budget, overseeing planning, allocation, and stewardship of all funds allocated to The Den.
Utilize ChurchTeams Church Management Software to track new families, maintain accurate attendance records, and generate reporting for Den ministry health and growth.
Follow up with new families each week after their first visit, providing a warm personal connection and helping them take next steps toward belonging at Bear Creek.
Evaluate and improve Den systems, tools, and processes on an ongoing basis to ensure the team is operating efficiently and effectively.
Be a model for those who attend Bear Creek Community Church by living with personal integrity, discipleship, and a posture of evangelism.
Qualifications
A growing disciple of Jesus with a clear testimony of salvation.
Prior volunteer or staff experience in children’s ministry.
Demonstrated experience recruiting, training, and leading volunteers.
Equally comfortable engaging with children and adults, able to build trust and connection across generations.
Bible college or theological training is a plus.
